There are a million reasons why badminton is fun. In this post, I will tell you the top 6 reasons take make badminton so enjoyable for many people. With any sport, whether you enjoy it or not is a personal preference. Badminton is no exception but its rise in popularity shows that more and more people are starting to enjoy this sport.

1. Social

What makes badminton enjoyable is not just the game itself, it is also the social aspect. If you do not have any friends that play badminton, not to worry. There are many badminton clubs out there where you can play with people you never met but have the same love for badminton.

When you do that, you will surely make new friends because you cannot play this game alone, unless you are hitting the shuttle against the wall. In fact, there are many people that made life long friends from joining a badminton club. This makes badminton 10 times more rewarding.

2. Speed of The Game

Badminton is such a fast-paced game, this makes it very exciting to play as it oftentimes leads to exciting moments. These moments include saving an impossible to save smash, diving to return the shot, quick pace rally, and many more. Other than that, the smashes can also be incredible. Advanced players have the ability to smash a shuttle at speeds of more than 200 mph! This makes badminton a very exciting game to both watch and play.

When you finally reach that level and learned how to perform or return shots like that, you get an adrenaline rush every single time. It is so rewarding that you want to do it more, it gets addicting. Be warned though, the very first time playing with players that can smash so hard is kinda scary as it can hit you on your head if you cannot react fast enough. Imagine getting hit by a shuttle travelling at 200mph… ouch!

3. Low Chances of Injury

Nobody likes getting injured especially if it means they cannot play their favourite game. Without worries of injuries, you can just focus on having fun! Badminton is a non-contact sport, this drastically reduces your chances of injury. This is especially true when you wear the proper shoes for badminton.

That being said, badminton can cause injuries such as sprained ankles, blisters, and wrist injuries. These injuries are pretty minor and most of the time they recover pretty quickly. Sprained ankles and blisters usually only happen when you do not wear proper badminton shoes when playing badminton. If you do wear proper shoes, you do not have to worry about them.

Despite that, badminton can still cause serious injuries such as hamstring strain or even tear. This happens when you play badminton for a longer time than your body can handle. So, do not push yourself too hard when playing badminton, listen to your body when it tells you to rest.

4. Satisfaction

In badminton, there are many satisfying moments such as winning a point, a match, or even saving some crazy shots. When you start playing badminton, there is so much to learn. Once you learned how to hit the shuttle the way it should, the fun begins as you get better and better. Like I’ve mentioned above, advanced players can hit smashes of over 200 mph. Once you reach that level, being able to save or perform a smash like that will make you feel on top of the world. Moreover, badminton will make you sweat a lot and I mean a lot! This gives you a sense of achievement and a great workout without you even realizing it.

5. Less Players

The maximum amount of players on one side of the court is 2 people. This is great because you get more chances of action and hitting the shuttle, more if you are playing singles. Other than that, it is also much easier to find people to play with because you only need a minimum of 2 people including you.

Unlike other sports such as soccer or hockey, where you need a minimum of 10 people including yourself. It can be hard to find so many people with the same free schedule as yours.

6. Skills Shots

There are many skill shots in badminton where you can perform to showoff but at the same time trick your opponents and win the point. It is extremely fun when you get to pull these trick shots off. Sometimes, you are forced to make these trick shots to save the point. Here is a video showing you 10 of Lin Dan’s best trick shots:

Conclusion

There you go, these are the top 6 reasons why badminton is fun. I hope I have given you enough reason to go out there and start playing badminton. Remember to protect yourself from injuries with the proper badminton shoes, it won’t be as much fun if you are getting injured easily.
